Keurig K-Mini Review
When looking for single-serve coffee maker options, it can be difficult to find the right product. There are expensive selections on the market today, and consumers don’t want to sacrifice the high-quality coffee they are used to for the high priced brands of today.
It is worth shopping around to find what you’re looking for. One option worth looking at is the Keurig K-Mini Coffee Maker. Let’s take a closer look at this product, and find out if it’s the right one for you.
This machine comes in 3 colors: Black, Oasis, and Studio Gray. Weighing about 6 pounds and measuring at less than 5 inches wide, this portable machine is ideal for small kitchen spaces.
The smallest of the Keurig coffee makers, this machine will hold up to 12 ounces of water. Whether you are staying home or going out, the K-Mini is perfect for single cup servings of coffee and will help to minimize waste.
How the Machine Works
This Keurig is very simple to use. You just choose your favorite K-cup, place it in the machine, and press the brew button. Within minutes, fresh coffee is done. This energy-efficient machine turns off automatically 90 seconds after you brew coffee.
Machine Brew Options
Unlike larger machines, you have to add water each time you want to brew. To get the sleek design, you give up the amount of water that other machines’ bulky reservoirs might hold. However, you can brew between 8 and 12 ounces each time. With little to no coffee waste, this is another eco-friendly feature.
This machine does not come with a filter, so you will have to purchase separate K-cups or even bags of coffee. The good news is that you are no longer restricted to coffee; the door is now open to an even wider variety of beverages.
Not only is this machine compatible with reusable K-cup coffee filters, increasing the grind options available, but there is also a plethora of brands of tea, hot cocoa and even iced drinks available.
The K-Mini comes with a removable drip tray, meaning that the machine can accommodate both standard-sized and travel mugs of up to 7-inches. The drip tray can also hold a full accidental brew, assisting with quick cleanups.
Machine Cleaning and Care
The water reservoir is not removable like other Keurig varieties. Also, if you use it quite a bit, you need to make sure that both the inside and outside of the machine are clean.
You have a couple of cleaning options for this machine. Both the outside of the machine and the removable drip tray can be wiped down with a soapy cloth and water.
To clean the inside, you can open and close the K-Mini, making sure to wait about 5 seconds in between to fool the machine into thinking that there’s a K-cup inside. Then you just run a cycle of hot water into a mug, after which you can simply discard the runoff water.
Another option for a deeper clean is to run rinse pods and use a descaling solution, both available for additional purchase. These will assist with thorough cleaning and maintenance.
The cost of the machine is between $66 – $70, depending on which color you choose. Although the machine is unique and useful, the additional coffee and cleaning materials are factors that you should consider before purchasing. If you decide that the K-Mini is worth it, then you’ve got a great machine on your hands.
